  6. This is the original JPEG-V6a source archive in lha format instead
  7. of tar.gz. You'll need the following two archives to be able to recompile
  8. GS:
  9. gs403src_gs.lha
  10. gs403src_amiga.lha

  21. Recompiling GS:
  22. Steps needed to be done to recompile GS from scratch using GCC2.63/2.70:
  23. Get gs403src_gs.lha
  24. Get gs403src_amiga.lha
  25. Get gs403src_jpg6a.lha
  26. Get gs403src_zlib.lha
  27. Get gs403src_png.lha
  28.  
  29. Unpack gs403src to HD, a directory 'gs4.03' will be created.
  30. Unpack to the same HD (files will also be placed into 'gs4.03':
  31. - gs403amiga.lha, overwriting some files. This is OK
  32.   gs403amiga.lha contains:
  33.   - gdevamiga.c, the amiga device driver from Olaf Barthel
  34.   - gdevpipe.c, patched for use with Libnix
  35.   - gp_amiga.c, platform dependant stuff for the Amiga
  36.   - Configure.in/Makefile.in to rebuild Makefile and be able
  37.     to separate source and build directory.
  38. - gs403src_jpg6a which creates the 'jpeg-6' directory
  39. - gs403src_zlib which creates the 'zlib' directory
  40. - gs403src_png which creates the 'libpng' directory
  41. - edit gcc-head.mak.in, the lines DEVICES_DEVSx= .....
  42.   (add/remove devices to your desire), save!
  43. - cd to your build directory (cd work:build/gs)
  44. - sh work:source/gs4.03/configure --prefix=Ghostscript:
  45.   (configure tests your configuration, generates Makefile)
  46. - make
  47. - make install
  48.  
  49. The last two archives are not needed when you don't intend to rebuild GS
  50. with PNG support.
  51.  
  52. If you haven't forgotten to set the stack to a reasonable amount (~50K),
  53. you can sit back and have a cup of coffee. On my A3000 it takes about 2.5h
  54. (1-1.5h when using PowerCache) to compile with the current device driver
  55. set and the file 'gdevamiga.c' needs about 7-8Mb when -O2 is on. It needs
  56. less if you don't optimize :)
  57. Make itself takes another 2Mb so in case of problems just compile
  58. gdevamiga.c on its own and let make resume after that. GCC2.7.2.1 (?) (Aminet)
  59. works with VMM3.3 (on Aminet too).
